I studied classical music on the piano from age five to fifteen, but I was more interested in hockey and
other sports. This focus changed when I saw Peter Frampton perform on stage surrounded by a crowd of
beautiful girls. With a new found motivation I grew my hair, learned the guitar, and start performing in
bands. I eventually made my way into “The Shooz”, a Beatles cover band, as the keyboard player playing
guitar and cowbell in many of the songs. The Shooz performed all over Ottawa in the early 80s, including
gigs with the members of the NAC orchestra.
While going through university I played in a few bar bands and then in the early stages of my software
engineering career I studied jazz on the side. I played in several jazz combos at that time....but my
love of contemporary rock music brought me back to playing with the Junkies. I’m just happy that these
very talented Junkies let me play with them.
